A new lawsuit says Tottenham knew about Primo’s misconduct since January

HOUSTON – Dr. Hilary Cawthen, a former psychologist who worked with Tottenham’s team, has filed a lawsuit in Pixar County alleging that the franchise “ignored its repeated reports of inappropriate exposure” to 19-year-old goalkeeper Josh Primo in the hope it could “ignore its actions.” Then cover it up.”

It was the Tottenham organization Willing to sacrifice Dr. Cawthen “To preserve what they hoped will one day be a star player,” the lawsuit says. Once Primo’s behavior entered the public domain, Spurs were forced to act and release Primo. Spurs’ recent actions in relation to Primo are too little, too late.”

The cause of action was filed in Bexar County Court Thursday morning.

Timeline of Josh Primo’s allegations: Former Tottenham psychologist appoints prominent lawyer Tony Busby

Cothen’s attorney, Tony Busby, Cawthen said her first report on Primo’s behavior to the Spurs management was in January 2022.

“Primo repeatedly revealed his genitals (nine times in total) to Dr. Cawthen during one-on-one private sessions, despite her numerous complaints of inappropriate sexual behavior to the organization’s leadership.”

Kawthar met with Tottenham general manager Brian Wright again on 21 March 2022 to discuss Primo’s alleged behaviour.

Busby said Cawthen wanted Gregg Popovich to know what was going on and said Spurs told Cawthen in June that Popovich was aware of the allegations. But Busby said he couldn’t be sure Popovic had actually been told.

“The organization I worked for has let me down. … It took Tottenham 10 months to do the right thing. And that’s too long,” Cawthen said at the press conference.

Primo attorney William J. Briggs II said in a statement that his client “has fallen victim to a sports psychiatrist appointed by his former team, who plays on ugly stereotypes and racialized fears for her financial benefit.”

In a betrayal of her young client, 40-year-old Dr. Cawthen erroneously claimed that Josh Primo had revealed himself to her during numerous therapy sessions. Ornamentation or sheer fantasy. Josh Primo did not intentionally reveal himself to her or anyone else and was not even aware that His private organs were visible outside of his exercise shorts.”

The statement also alleges that “Dr. Cawthen did not inform her patient of the alleged exposure.”

In a move that stunned the NBA and was among the most shocking in franchise history, Tottenham ceded Primo, 19, last Friday, just four games into his second season after the club named him 12th overall in the 2021 NBA draft.
