Nick Sands, Julian Sands’ brother, told a British tabloid that he knows “in my heart he’s gone” as California authorities continue to search for the actor.

“The Sheriff’s Department is wrapping up the second full week of the search for missing hitchhiker, Julian Sands. Multiple ground and air search efforts have been undertaken,” according to a press release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. “As of this time, Mr. Sands has not been found and no evidence has been discovered of his current location.”
The other hiker, Jin Chung, a 75-year-old from Los Angeles who was last seen Sunday, was found “having some weather-related injuries and a leg injury but was able to get out with the help of crew members.”
“He was taken to a local hospital for treatment,” the press release read. “No other information is currently available.”
Authorities said they continue to search for the 65-year-old Sands, who is best known for his roles in “A Room with a View,” “The Killing Fields” and “Arachnophobia.”

“When he was in L.A., his favorite place was the Mt Baldy mountain range, he would go there as often as he could,” Sands said. “Julian used to like to say ‘I never get a holiday but I take a break once in a while’ — well, now he’s resting somewhere he really approves of.”
In their statement, the authorities warned, “Many hikers, experienced or novice, underestimate the steep terrain, unpredictable weather, and high winds that appear in our mountain regions” and advised “hikers to avoid dangerous mountain areas, such as Mount Baldy, in This place. Time.”
