Sean McVeigh: We’ve been spotted helping Cam Akers find a fresh start with a new team

If the rams can find a business partner to retreat Cam AkersThen they will move it.

This was a message from coach Sean McVeigh when he spoke to reporters on Monday.

“There is a possibility that we will try to help him find A fresh new start with another teamMcVeigh said, via Gilbert Manzano of the Southern California Newsgroup. “That’s something we found out. If that doesn’t come to fruition, we will find a solution to the best way forward with him here and that will be the things we will be working towards over the next couple of days.”

As reported by PFT on Sunday, Los Angeles asked Akers not to come to the facility Thursday and Friday last week. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that there are “Philosophical differences related to football“The existence between McVay and Akers that created a rift.

McVeigh left the door open for Akers to possibly play with the Rams again. But at this point, that seems unlikely.

“This is definitely something I would never say is off the table,” McVeigh said. “I like to think I’m a very open person, but I think when you look at certain situations and scenarios the way things have developed, as of now, I think that’s the best option for all parties I think would be to explore whether there is a good situation for him with Another team.

“If that doesn’t pay off… figuring out the best way to be able to take advantage of him and be the best player he is capable of… I would never speak like this.”

The Rams picked Akers in the second round of the 2020 draft. He rushed for 625 yards and two touchdowns as a rookie, and also scored 131 yards in a playoff over Seattle. He tore his Achilles before starting training camp in 2021, but was able to return for one game in the regular season and the post-season tour of Los Angeles.

He appeared in the first five games of the season, starting in weeks four and five. He has 151 yards on 51 buggies with a quick landing as well as two 18-yard catch stops in 2022.
