Kentucky Derby Epicenter runners-up remained the favorite on Saturday as betting intensified for the 147th round of the Champions League. Preakness classes in Pimlico.
Epicenter carried odds 7-5 before the on-track odds were updated that were appearing on racetrack screens to show the handle from all sources across North America. On the next click before 10AM ET, he went 2-1 to lead the field of nine 3-year-olds who are scheduled to race Saturday at 7:01PM EST.
The differences between the morning streak and the live odds were even more pronounced with Fenwick, the first winner who was the last horse to enter the race. The estimate that he would be 50-1 was countered by early betting that propelled him to single-digit odds that lasted until late Saturday afternoon.
