Dubai, United Arab Emirates – Sheikh Khalifa bin Saeed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, has died at the age of 73, state news agencies reported on Friday.

Sheikh Khalifa was the second president of the Gulf country, having served since 2004. Shektam, a small desert with seven emirates, is proud to have helped bring the United Arab Emirates to global prominence and to lead the country through turbulent times during the 2008 financial crisis.

The Ministry of Presidential Affairs condoles on the death of Sheikh Khalifa bin Saeed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates.

“The UAE Ministry of Presidential Affairs has announced today that the first flag will be flown at half-mast for forty days of government mourning and that all ministries, departments and federal, local and private companies will be suspended for three days,” WAM wrote in a tweet.
