A small plane crashed into a bridge in Miami on Saturday afternoon, injuring at least six people and crashing into at least one car.
The plane crashed just before 1pm on the Hollower Inlet Bridge near the 10800 block of Collins Avenue. Smoke was visible for miles from the wreckage of the plane.
According to the Miami-Tate Fire Rescue, the plane crashed into at least one vehicle.
Staff responded and found the plane on fire and quickly extinguished the fire, officials said.
At least six people have been hospitalized after a small plane caught fire after colliding with a bridge in Miami on Saturday afternoon.
Fire and rescue officials said six people were injured, two of whom were taken to a local hospital as a shock alert. One of them was taken by airlift and the other by ground.
The other three patients sustained life-threatening injuries. The condition of the sixth patient is unknown.
Footage taken from the scene showed the wreckage of the plane in the middle of the road. The vehicle involved, a dark red or maroon SUV, was found with severe front damage.
Authorities said the Hollower Inlet Bridge on Collins Avenue, between Sunny Islands Beach and Milk Harbor, was closed. Southbound Collins Avenue is closed at 158th Street.
Traffic was diverted and motorists were advised to look for an alternative route and anticipate longer delays.
