Women’s Final Four 2022 Results: South Carolina and Yukon win, play Sunday for national championship

The 2022 Women’s NCAA Tournament has been reduced to two teams: South Carolina and Yukon. Camcocks and Huskies each amassed four final wins in Minneapolis on Friday, setting up a star-studded national championship on Sunday.

Wire-to-wire number of South Carolina, AP. Team 1 began the final fourth game against No. 1 ranked Louisville at the center of the table. The match was a real clash of the Giants as both teams came into the match winning double digits in everything but one of their one-match series. Gamecox topped the table 72-59 to reach the second national championship in the last five years.

The national championship was locked after UConn defeated defending national champions Stanford. UConn’s Paige Bueckers scored 14 points in the match to give Cardinal a 63-58 lead.

Here’s what happened in each of the final four matches.

  • Three days after Nicemith won the Player of the Year award, Alia showed that Boston deserved that honor by dominating the 72-59 win over Louisville. Despite facing doubles and three teams, Boston led South Carolina with 23 points, including 18 rebounds and four assists. South Carolina has the chance to win its first national title since 2017. Emily Engstler of Louisville had 18 points, nine rebounds and four thefts in a masterful failed attempt.
  • UConn star Paige Bueckers scored 14 points to go with four rebounds and five assists, beating defending national champions Stanford 63-58. Equally important to Husky’s defensive success was Stanford – who marched within two points in the final minute, but it was short – shot 35.4% off the field and made only 4 of its 23 3 – point attempts. UConn is now looking for its first national title since 2016 against No. 1 ranked South Carolina.
